Mr. Per Hedén explains how Akademikliniken approached Metodika with three Primary Objectives:

  1. Create a common appointment book for all of Akademikliniken's staff.
  2. Unify medical journals into one electronic format that fulfills HIPA and other legal requirements.
  3. Increase knife-time for all surgeons.

Metodika responded by improving overall functionality based on an HCI analysis of user needs, integrating all healthcare administrative systems into the Skapell system, for improved workflow, increased efficiency and scalability. With a staff of more than 100, the ability to quickly find and book appointments for a broad range of skills relating to specific individuals at the right time, is a necessity to optimize our resources.

Skalpell gave us this as well as a superb graphic overview of optimization for everyone to see. Plastic surgery requires a special set of distinct features since this is a very graphic business. We need to document all procedures with pictures before, during and after surgery. Skapell gives us a simple and quick way to store and retrieve all pictures for one patient.

In addition to these baseline requirements we can also quickly retrieve pictures for a specific group of patients or appointments with search criteria, like superb results that we may publish, a feature that I trust is unique to Skalpell.

Akademiklinken increased knife time from high 30% to mid 70%, The clinic has grown from 15 staff to over 100 and bottom line profits have increased substantially higher than turnover.
Today Akademikliniken has 7 Operating theaters and 11 Surgeons and is the largest center for plastic surgery in Europe.
